Ingredients:
- 1 packet of Falooda mix (Happy Home)
- 2-3 cups of Milk (full-fat or chilled)
- 2 tablespoons Basil seeds (sabja seeds)
- 1/4 cup of Falooda vermicelli (these are special thin noodles for falooda)
- Ice cream (usually vanilla or rose flavor)
- Rose syrup or Rooh Afza (optional, for added flavor and color)
- Crushed ice (optional, for extra chill)
- Soak Basil Seeds (Sabja)
- Soak the basil seeds in warm water for about 15 minutes. They will swell and expand in size, becoming gelatinous in texture.
- Once they are ready, drain the excess water and set them aside.
- Cook the Falooda Vermicelli
- Boil some water in a pan, add the falooda vermicelli, and cook according to the package instructions (usually for about 2-3 minutes).
- Once done, drain and rinse the noodles with cold water to stop further cooking. Set them aside.
- Prepare the Falooda Mix
- In a bowl, dissolve the Falooda mix in 1/2 cup of cold milk or water. Stir well until the powder completely dissolves.
- Add the remaining milk (about 1.5 to 2 cups) to the mixture and stir well. If you want a more intense flavor or a slightly sweeter version, you can also add a bit of rose syrup or Rooh Afza.
- Assemble the Falooda
- In a tall glass, start layering the ingredients:
- First, add a spoonful of the soaked basil seeds at the bottom.
- Add a layer of the cooked falooda vermicelli.
- Pour the prepared falooda milk mixture into the glass, filling it about halfway.
- Add a scoop of ice cream (usually vanilla or rose flavor works best, but feel free to use your favorite).
- You can add crushed ice at this point if you want the falooda to be extra cold and refreshing.
- Garnish and Serve
- Drizzle a little extra rose syrup on top for color and added flavor.
- You can also sprinkle some crushed nuts, dried fruits, or even extra basil seeds for garnish.
- Serve immediately with a straw and spoon.
